Halawet El Jeben is a famous dessert in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. Try this delicious recipe of Halawet El Jeben.
Ingredients:
- 5 cups of Akkawi Cheese or Ricota Cheese
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 cup of Syrup
- 3 cups of fresh Kushta or Home made Kushta (Cream)
- 1/4 cup of lemmon jam
- 1/2 cup of pistachio (Minced)
- Cut the cheese into thin slices and drawn them in cold water for a night.
- Change the water few times.
- The next day take the cheese and put it in a pan and put it in the oven until it melts.
- Take the melted cheese and put it in a deep pan and mix with flour and Syrup.
- Take the pan and put it over the fire and mix until you get a well combined and soft dough.
- Take some syrup and brush it on your kitchen table and put the dough on it and start spreading the dough until it gets thin.
- Now you have the Halawet el Jeben ready.
- Take some Kushta Cream and fill the middle with it.
- Rap the dough to become a long circular cilender.
- Cut it into pieces of 3cm long.
- Take the pieces and put them in the serving plate and add some Syrup over them.
- Spread some of the minced pistachio, lemmon jam over the top.
